He stressed “with the current security challenges facing the nation—ranging from banditry, kidnapping, cybercrime, and other emerging threats — there is a critical need for stronger collaboration between security agencies and well-meaning members of the society.”
He therefore urged the newly decorated matrons and patrons to see their appointments as a call to service, encouraging them to support the Police and PCRC with necessary logistics and resources, promote community policing through active engagement, assist in intelligence sharing and early warning systems, and advocate for peace, unity, and security awareness within their respective communities.
He further appealed that whenever the PCRC seeks their support, they should respond promptly in the collective interest of safeguarding lives and property.
In their separate responses, the newly decorated matrons and patrons expressed deep appreciation to the PCRC and the Nigeria Police for finding them worthy of the honour.
They described the recognition as both a privilege and a responsibility.
The appointees subsequently pledged to uphold the ideals and objectives of the PCRC, support security initiatives within the FCT and beyond, contribute meaningfully to crime prevention efforts, partner with the Nigeria Police in promoting a safer and more secure society and assured the committee of their readiness to respond whenever called upon.
Several dignitaries and stakeholders attended the event.
The event is seen as of security significance.
“The decoration ceremony is not only symbolic but also strategic in strengthening community policing efforts. By bringing influential and respected individuals into the PCRC structure, the Committee is expanding its network for intelligence gathering, conflict resolution, and public sensitization.

“This initiative aligns with modern policing strategies which recognize that security is a shared responsibility. Community leaders, religious figures, business executives, and public office holders all play a vital role in identifying threats, promoting vigilance, and supporting law enforcement agencies.”
It’s seen as marking a new chapter in the ongoing effort to enhance security collaboration within the Federal Capital Territory and to underscore the commitment of the PCRC FCT Command to building a safer society through inclusive participation and strategic partnerships.
As Nigeria continues to face evolving security challenges, initiatives like this remain crucial in bridging the gap between the Police and the public, thereby fostering trust, cooperation, and collective action against crime.
