Soun to launch new socio-cultural organization tomorrow

The Soun of Ogbomosoland His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III has announced the formation of a new socio-cultural organization to represent the interest of Ogbomosoland.

The traditional ruler made this disclosure Monday at the grand finale of Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival held at the Soun Stadium.

Advertisement While making the closing remark the monarch said the new organization would be named “Central Committee of Ogbomoso Sons and Daughters Universal” (CCOSSU) though this acronym is yet to be made officially.

The association which he said would be all-embracing would be constituted by all sons and daughters of Ogbomosoland with membership open to everyone whether the person belongs to a club or not.

He thus invited all clubs and societies present at the festival numbering over fifty to attend and register as members.

He said, “All societies and clubs here present should send their presidents and secretaries tomorrow when the inaugural meeting would be held at the palace or they send representatives. We will inaugurate the association and set up the steering committee. I invite you all. The association will represent the interest of Ogbomoso henceforth and its annual general meeting would be held second day of the end of the Cradles Carnival. Those who do not belong to any society or club can register as members too.”

Meanwhile, the Oba did not mention whether it would complement or replace Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaaye, a grassroots organization, which until recently is the main voice of Ogbomoso.

ogbomosoinsightonline.com reports Ogbomoso Parapo’s national exco has been at loggerheads with the Soun who dissolved the committee earlier this year and replaced it with a caretaker committee following which a faction of the exco instituted legal suit on the ground that the Soun as a grand patron had no locus standi to take such action of disbanding the exco of a CAC registered organization. The matter is ~~~~~~~~~~~still in court.
