House of Assembly hopeful, Eyo, hails Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival, says narrative of insecurity unfounded

An aspirant to the Oyo State House of Assembly in Ogbomoso North local government Adeeyo Isaac Adegbite has declared support for the Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival starting today in the city.

Adegbite, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made this declaration during an interview with ogbomosoinsightonline.com recently.

Eyo as he is fondly called noted the festival has a lot of benefits for Ogbomoso urging maximum support and full participation by the indigenes and residents.

This is as he dismissed as unfounded the insinuation of insecurity, averring little skirmishes could not be taken as a breakdown of security.

“The first edition of Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival could be described as an appetiser, and l am certain this second edition will be a bang. The organising committee will build on the successes of the inaugural one and ensure it is grander, more elaborate and have greater impact, that will bring immense opportunities for our people. So, all and sundry should embrace the carnival, and not stay aloof. Ogbomoso belongs to all of us, we should support the carnival in our own little way be it through our financial support, be it with our presence and in whatsoever way.”

The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun state graduate faulting the claim of insecurity in Ogbomoso said, “l am living in Ogbomoso so the insinuation is unfounded, there is nothing like insecurity menace in Ogbomoso. There may be a little skirmishes in terms of armed robberies and the likes in the school (LAUTECH) area but when it comes to the issue of kidnapping, there is nothing of such in Ogbomoso. The town is extremely peaceful.”

He also dismissed with a wave of the hands the claim by another school of thought that the carnival is misplace of priority submitting, “How can it be a misplace of priority? Something that brings all Ogbomosos across the globe together, fostering unity and cooperation and igniting development, the results of which we are seeing, how can it be junked as a misplace of priority?

“So, those saying that might not know the essence of organising the carnival. A similar thing has been going on in Ijebu Ode and in other noble towns, which nobody is condemning. It is tourism which is the lifeline of some countries, so, anybody that is condemning Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival needs to be properly examined because the purpose of the carnival is good, it must have our total support. We may have our differences but we shouldn’t bring our differences into issues that will project Ogbomoso to the outside world.”

Adegbite who recently declared his ambition to represent Ogbomoso North state constituency charged the people to continue to support the traditional ruler of the town His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III in his developmental strides which he described as giant

“My message is that people should continue to pray for the progress and development of Ogbomosoland, they should continue to support His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye for his giant strides. The King has been able to bring innovations, creativities and developments to Ogbomoso within the shortest possible time. So, our people should continue to give him maximum support and our people should continue to live in peace and support every agenda that is geared towards the development of Ogbomosoland.”
