Onijeru stool: Nobody has been chosen – Contestant

Prince Abdulrasheed Zacchariyau has declared that neither the family nor the government had approved the appointment of a new Baale of Ijeru in Ogbomoso South local government.

Prince Zacchariyau, a contestant to the ancient stool in a statement he personally signed and made available to ogbomosoinsightonline.com noted that there is a case in court over “a purported appointment earlier made” declaring that though “there are new contestants to the prestigious stool of Onijeru no one has been chosen.”

He stated that his pronouncement “became inevitable after we learnt that a particular aspirant whose name l would not mention for now is parading himself as the candidate nominated for the Onijeru stool.”

“I want to declare unequivocally that no one had been chosen. There is a case in court instituted by the family as a result of an earlier purported appointment about two years ago. Judgement will be delivered on that and the coast will be cleared. So, for anyone to be parading himself as the chosen one is presumptuous and so we warn the general public to not to be deceived.”

ogbomosoinsightonline.com recalls that Ayinla Lawal from Osotona family was installed November 7, 2023, as the new Onijeru sequel to the demise of HRH Popoola Olaniyi. However, two royal families went to court to challenge the installation claiming Lawal is not a bonafide member of the Onijeru family.

Prince Zacchariyau added that “there are two Onijeru royal families which rotate the stool. They are Aderibigbe Orobode and Akinrimitan Orogase, the man who was purported to have been installed does not belong to either of the two or our family at all and that is why he could not access the palace.”
