Hon. ‘Dewuyi ‘Olukumopa’, happy birthday!

Every August 14 is the birthday of Honourable Adewuyi Folaranmi Adegbite fondly called ‘Dewuyi ‘Olukumopa’ or Adema. Without any iota of doubt, Olukumopa is a household name in the ancient town of Ogbomoso, the house has produced and still producing intellectual personalities in all fields of life. There is no doubt, Boda ‘Dewuyi, as I often call him is one of those who are keeping the flag of that noble family- Olukumopa flying. However, this short birthday tribute become imperative because of the affection and the strength of fraternity I have for Olukumopa family. Falling back to my archive, Boda ‘Dewuyi is one of the four members of Olukumopa family that I can never forget in my life. Others are Engr. ‘Gbola Adegboyega, Engr. Abayomi Adegbite and Sir Akinade Johnson Adeyemi, they are in my good book.

Consequently, the summary of Hon. ‘Dewuyi Olukumopa’s life is akin to the phrase, ‘the more you look, the less you see’, which means the more people are trying to understudy ‘Dewuyi, the less he would be understood. This is majorly due to the fact that, he is a man of many parts with uncompromised principle: someone who doesn’t conform to the crowd, he pursues his belief with unrelenting passion and commitment, even in the face of adversity, he is a practicing farmer, a registered timber contractor, politician, socio-political analyst, human right crusader, professional historian, author etc. In that regards, to his credit as an author, it is not an overstatement, Adewuyi’s works can be found competing in the private and public shelves in Nigeria and beyond with other intellectual publications.

It’s on this note however, I congratulate ‘Boda ‘Dewuyi for the above mentioned milestone achievements. I pray that, the remaining journey of his life shall be far better than the previous years.
