Architect Dr Bimbo Oke, Ogbomoso-born UNIUYO don, passes away at 58

An Ogbomoso-born lecturer at the University of Uyo, Uyo Akwa-Ibom state, Architect Dr Bimbo Oke is dead. He passed away in the early hours of Sunday during a brief illness at a hospital in Uyo. He celebrated his 58th birthday in April this year.

Dr Oke started work in the institution in 2001 and served in various capacities.

Of Ogbuo Olokuta royal dynasty Akunko Ogbomoso he was actively involved in the design and construction industry as well as training of students of architecture for about 30 years. He also served on various project design and supervision teams.

He was a two term secretary of Akwa Ibom state chapter of The Nigerian Institute of Architects from 2007 to 2012 and a two term chairman from 2016 – 2020.

In April 2026 he paid a courtesy visit to the Soun of Ogbomosoland Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye along with his US-based sister Pastor Faith Adebimpe Akano; father, Prince Abraham Adegoke and Mr. Femi Ogunlana (publisher of ogbomosoinsihhtonline.com).
