Femi Onireti partners school on inter-house sports

Hon Olufemi Onireti, a US-based entrepreneur, has forged a partnership with Owode Community Grammar School (Owode Grams), Oke-Owode area, Ogbomoso, Oyo state in staging the school’s annual inter-house sports competition today, February 27.
The annual sports competition, the fifth by the school, will hold at the school’s playground starting 10am according to a release signed by the principal of the school, Comrade Dayo Ajala.

Comrade Ajala states, “The school, Owode Community Grammar School will hold its annual inter-house house sports competition tomorrow, February 27, 2024. It will come up on the school athletic pitch, it will start at 10am. Our students are excited about the event.
“We have a philanthropist, a sports lover, who is partnering with us in the competition, Hon Olufemi Onireti. He decided to boost sports development towards discovering young talents at the school level and nurturing them. This is innovative and commendable. It’s a novel idea.
“We believe in catching them young, many great sports stars started in secondary school and we want to help nurture stars too. We thank Hon Olufemi Oniteti for this support, we express gratitude to parents and guardians of our students too and most importantly, we thank the Oyo state governor His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde for providing the enabling environment for academic and sports development. This sporting event aligns with his policy of physically and productively engaging the students in co-curricular activities. More power to his elbow.”
The inter-house sports competition dubbed “Femi Onireti – Owode Grams Sports Meet” will be “an exciting moment to be graced by important dignitaries,” even as the principal assures adequate security arrangement has been made.

Various sporting events such as 100m, 200m and relay races will be competed for including invited schools’ relay. Also, high jump, march past, long jump and tug-of-war events will provide winners. Parents, staff and old students will as well light up the pitch in novelty races, it’s said, with various prizes on ground to be won.
From available information on events decided during the “heat” last week Pink House leads the pack with 84 points, Purple follows closely with 77 points. Blue has 65 points, Red 64, Green 53 and Yellow 47.
