OBITUARY: Accident claims Oyo referee, leaves 3 others injured, Crown FC mourns

The Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Referee Association (NRA) has been thrown into mourning as a member Rafiu Kazeem Opeyemi lost his life in a ghastly motor accident Saturday at Osu, Ilesa, Osun state.

According to a report posted by the media officer of Crown FC Ogbomoso, Oyee Oyedeji, the accident occured while the deceased was returning from Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, after a fitness test along with four others who sustained various degrees of injuries.
The deceased until his death was the NRA chairman of Ona-Ara local government area in Ibadan.
Those who sustained injuries, Oni Ebenezer Segun, Ajadi Odunayo and Amos, are NRA members from Ogun State Council.
Crown FC condoles family, NRA
Condoling NRA members in Oyo state and the family of the deceased the general manager of Crown FC, Kunle Oyeleye, in a release signed by the club’s media officer, Oyedeji, stated, “The entire Staff, Supporters and Fans of the Ajilete Warriors are deeply saddened by the news of the demise of a formidable and performance oreinted referee Rafiu Kazeem Opeyemi.

“We condole with the members of the Oyo State Referees Association and also the family of the deceased.
“It is our prayer that God will grant him eternal rest and give his family, friends and colleagues, the fortitude to bear the irreparable lost.”
The Nigeria National League campaigner added, “We are wishing the trio of Oni Ebenezer Segun, Ajadi Odunayo and Amos, members of the Nigeria Referee Association from Ogun State, who sustained injuries in the accident, and are currently receiving treatment, quick recovery.”
