Some appointments carry a significance that extends beyond the individual. They awaken pride in a community, renew expectations and create an opportunity for public service to acquire deeper meaning. Your appointment as Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, is one such moment.

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you, Hon. Akinwale Akinwole, fondly known as Wolekanle, on this important responsibility.

As a fellow son of Ogbomoso, I celebrate this occasion with a deep sense of belonging. When one of our own is entrusted with an office of consequence, the joy reaches beyond political circles. It speaks to our shared identity and our hope that the contributions of our community will continue to enrich the wider progress of Oyo State.

That pride carries an equally important expectation: that the honour of today will become the enduring value of tomorrow.

The office of Chief of Staff sits at a vital meeting point between leadership and implementation. It requires an understanding of the Governor’s vision, an appreciation of the pressures facing government and a clear awareness of the realities confronting citizens. Its influence is felt in how concerns receive attention, how institutions work together and how decisions move from intention to action.

Behind every file is a human concern. Behind every policy are people whose lives may be changed by how faithfully it is implemented.

There is the young graduate waiting for an opportunity to prove their ability. There is the small business owner struggling to sustain employment. There is the family weighing the cost of medical care against other necessities. There are communities whose needs deserve to be heard, even when they lack the connections to bring those needs to the centre of government.

It is in these everyday realities that public service finds its deepest purpose.

My work in healthcare and enterprise has strengthened my conviction that development must be meaningful at the level of the individual household. Accessible healthcare can preserve a family’s livelihood. A viable business can sustain several homes. An opportunity offered to a young person can alter the direction of an entire life. These are the human outcomes that give lasting value to the work of government.

As you assume this office, my sincere hope is that you will contribute to an administration in which listening leads to understanding, understanding informs decisions and decisions produce results that people can recognise in their daily lives.

The responsibility before you will require judgement in moments when competing interests demand attention. It will require the confidence to offer honest counsel, the patience to build agreement and the humility to remain open to perspectives beyond your immediate circle. May you find strength in these responsibilities and fulfil them with a steady commitment to the public good.

For Ogbomoso, this is a moment to celebrate with dignity and look forward with hope. May your service honour the community from which you come while embracing the full breadth of the state you have been called to serve. May people across Oyo State find in your office a willingness to listen and a determination to help government work effectively.

I also extend my sincere appreciation to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, for the confidence reposed in you. May that confidence be rewarded through a productive working relationship, sound counsel and faithful attention to the responsibilities entrusted to your office.

Wolekanle, the congratulations of today will eventually become reflections on the years of service that follow. My prayer is that those reflections will speak of fairness, meaningful contributions and commitments honoured. May those who encounter your leadership remember that their concerns were treated with dignity and that your influence was used with care.

May the distinction of this appointment be matched by the depth of your service. May the pride it brings today grow into gratitude for the difference you make tomorrow.

On behalf of myself and Genesis Medical Diagnostics Centre, Ogbomoso, please accept my warmest congratulations. May God grant you wisdom, good health and the strength to discharge your duties honourably.
