The 2027 election is fast approaching and various political parties have started putting forward candidates for various political posts. As it concerns my home town, Ogbomoso, there is the need for right political education to be given to the electorates to guide their choice of candidates. Ogbomoso factor needs be considered by electorates. Aside the manifestoes of the parties, a candidate must equally have agenda for the town, this is the Ogbomoso factor being talked about or proposed. There is the need for change in the affairs of the town such that old ways of doing things have to change for new ones.

As an instance, the Soun of Ogbomoso Oba Ghandi has initiated a new way regarding conferment of chieftaincies, changing from the old method of having to pay for a chieftaincy title to having a recognized project to execute for the benefits of the Ogbomoso people. Evidently, all his newly appointed chiefs have executed one project or the other for the benefit of the people. This is Ogbomoso factor exemplified.

So, this needs to be replicated in our politics in Ogbomoso such that any politician seeking political posts in Ogbomoso must have blueprint for the town, which he/she would execute when voted in. This will bring development and growth as compared to the old method of collecting money or ransom from intending politicians who would thereafter forget the town, and have no agenda again since he had paid the people off.

Therefore, we should inculcate the right political education for the electorates in Ogbomoso. We should start voting for candidates that have the love and interest of the electorates and the town at heart. May God spare us till the voting time and beyond, and may we be guided by our conscience in the choice of the right candidates for our town, Ogbomoso. Amen.
