Few days after dumping PDP, Femi Onireti emerges DG City Boy Movement Oyo state chapter

Within a few days of resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Olufemi Onireti has been appointed as the Director of the City Boy Movement Oyo state chapter.

This was confirmed through a letter dated April 3, and delivered to him Tuesday.

“It is with great pleasure, and on behalf of the National Leadership of the City Boy Movement (CBM), that I formally convey the confirmation of your appointment as Director, Oyo State Chapter of the City Boy Movement, with immediate effect.”

It is asserted that he was given the appointment on account of his background as a grassroots politician and commitment to public service.

“This appointment is a deliberate recognition of your distinguished leadership, unwavering commitment to public service, and demonstrable alignment with the ideals, vision, and strategic objectives of the Movement. Your track record of competence, discipline, and loyalty inspires strong confidence in your capacity to provide purposeful leadership and to effectively coordinate the activities of the Movement within Oyo State.”

Onireti is saddled with providing strong and strategic leadership for the movement in the state and act in accordance with the direction of the national body.

“As State Director, you are entrusted with the critical responsibility of serving as the principal representative of the City Boy Movement in Oyo State, and you are expected to provide strategic direction, operational coordination, and administrative oversight in accordance with the policies and directives of the National Secretariat.”

The City Boy Movement, whose patron and grand patron are Seyi Tinubu and President Bola Tinubu respectively, is an advocacy group by youths founded to whip up support for the second term ambition of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The movement is focused on urban areas and grassroots engagement, promotes youth involvement in politics, offers community empowerment initiatives, enhances economic opportunities for the youths, and seeks to bridge the gap between government and citizens. It has as leader the President’s son, Seyi Tinubu. It has chapters in every state of the federation.

Accepting the position, the Ogbomoso-born Onireti expressed willingness to accept the responsibility and work tirelessly to promote the ideals of President Bola Tinubu.

He affirmed the appointment is a call to greater service and a means to bolster his connection with the people especially at the grassroots.

“I am deeply honored and humbled to accept the responsibility of serving as the Director General of the Oyo State City Boy Movement. This appointment is a call to greater service, a call to deepen our connection with the people, and a commitment to strengthening a movement that truly reflects the aspirations of our communities for better.”

He added, “I remain dedicated to building a vibrant, inclusive, and people driven structure that will mobilize and empower especially our youth across every ward in Oyo State. Together, we will expand our reach, energize our base, and ensure that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ideals we stand for translate into real impact at the grassroots.”

Assuring on the continuation of Tinubu in government and of victory for other APC candidates in Oyo state in 2027, he stressed, “As we move forward, we are resolute in our support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and we will work tirelessly to ensure his re-election, while securing victory for the APC candidates across Oyo State. I appreciate everyone who believes in this journey, together, we will deliver.”

His duty is highlighted to include strategic leadership, organisational development and mobilisation cum engagement.

‘In particular, your responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, the following: Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary, strategic, and result-oriented leadership across all levels of the Movement within the State, including Local Government Areas, Wards, and Polling Units, Organisational Development: Build, strengthen, and sustain a disciplined, inclusive, and highly effective grassroots structure capable of delivering the Movement’s objectives, and thirdly Mobilisation and Engagement: Drive coordinated mobilisation of members, supporters, and stakeholders towards advancing the Movement’s goals, including civic engagement and electoral participation.”

A source close to Onireti informed ogbomosoinsightonline.com that the appointment underscores the recognition of his worth adding, “All through his years in the PDP and despite his immense contributions to the party he was never accorded recognition matching his significance. It is all about his focus on grassroots development and empowering the people.”
