APC ready to take over Oyo in 2027 – Brimo, hails party congresses’ success

A former lawmaker who represented Oyo North senatorial district between 1999 and 2003, Brig. Gen. Brimo Yusuf, has hailed stakeholders and members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, over what he described as the peaceful and successful conduct of the ward and local government congresses in Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso zone and Oyo state generally.

Senator Brimo who is a chieftain of the APC observed the outcomes of the congresses is a signal to the party’s readiness to take over in Oyo state in 2027.

This position was contained in press release made available to newsmen Saturday.

Brimo thus expressed appreciation to all the stakeholders for the “inclusiveness, openness, equity, fairness and justice that charactersized the congresses and which ensured the processes were not only peaceful but successful and acceptable.”

“I express my profound gratitude to all party leaders and stakeholders across the state, most especially my local government, Ogbomoso North and Ogbomoso zone as a whole. I appreciate them for the hitch free exercise. The peaceful resolutions, being a pillar and principle of the progressives family, affirms the readiness of the party to work in unity to triple our votes for the victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and to win Oyo state back for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027. I sincerely appreciate the assiduous efforts of Chief Akin Oke, Engr Dayo Lawal, Senator Buhari AbdulFatai, Chief Sunday Dare, Hon Olamijuwonlo Alao Akala and others for taking their time out of their very busy schedules to attend the stakeholders’ meeting to ensure the exercise was successful.”

The retired general further urged all the concerned to ensure that the remaining exercises record resounding successes.

“I thereby urge us to ensure that we build on the earlier successess recorded so that we could have resounding success in the forthcoming zonal and state congresses,” adding, “We must also work in unity and sincere love to ensure that we record the highest votes in the South West for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and also win Oyo state in the 2027 general elections.”

Recall that the ward and local government congresses of the party was held on the 18th and 21st, February, 2026, in about 30 states of the federation including Oyo state, the political headquarters of the South West.

The zonal, state and national convention of the party are expected to hold in the coming months, as released by the national body of the party.
