Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival has come to stay, if the latest revelation by the chairman of the planning committee of the 2025 edition, Chief Olusegun Odebunmi, is anything to go by.

Odebunmi a three-term federal legislator, in a chat with newsmen Saturday at Ogbomoso Stadium during his inspection and monitoring of works made this revelation.

In company with Mogaji Bolanta ruling house of Soun dynasty (Prince Samuel Oyebamiji Oyedeji) and Mr. Muyiwa Oke (secretary of the committee) Bunvic disclosed when asked what his committee was doing to get a permanent venue for the carnival, that ‘Yeah, yeah! In fact, when I was appointed as chairman of the planning committee, that was my first point l raised with His Imperial Majesty that we needed to capture an area and designate it permanent place to be holding the carnival.”

On the acquisition of a site, Hon Odebunmi currently the chairman Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority (OORBDA) said they were working seriously to turn this dream into reality.

“Yes, we have someone in charge working assiduously on that,” shifting his gaze to Mogaji Oyedeji.

But he would not give a time lag of its possible realisation.

Two or three years? He answered they envisaged an earlier date, with hint of confidence. “No, it can’t be up to that.”

“So next year?” It was further demanded.”I am not saying next year categorically but that next year we will get our land and the construction will start. My belief is we will get more support.”

Bunvic who is the Okanlomo of Ogbomosoland justifying the carnival against the backdrop of insinuation it’s not what Ogbomoso needs at a time like this and so is a misplace of priority,, declared, “By the special grace of God it is not, it is really something we need. When your city is not the the seat of government then you should think outside the box to attract the attention of the government. if Ogbomoso is capital of a state now, you don’t need to bother yourself much, government’s presence will be everywhere. So since we are not yet a state capital we need to think outside the box to attract the attention of everybody, and the attention of government to our city.”
