The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Ogbomoso, Oyo state, has gotten messier following a hard tackle from a party chieftain, Hon Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a. Booda Sunday or BSA, who last week announced his resignation from the ruling party.

BSA who pulled out of the party citing irreconcilable differences stemming from what he described as “arrogance, impunity, favouritism” and so on, in a press statement by his media team, on Sunday, has disclosed that the Chief of Staff to the Oyo state governor Engr Seyi Makinde, Chief Segun Ogunwuyi, literally begged him to re-join PDP after his brief sojourn in the NNPP (New Nigeria People’s Party).

He has made this remark in response to an earlier press release by the executive committee of the PDP Ibapon ward 4, Ogbomoso South, which discredited his membership and contributions and dismissed him as a desperate politician and gold digger, who added no value to the party.

The philanthropist noted with pride that he paid his dues fully in and outside the party and was at a time a major sustainer of the party, slamming those overseeing the party today as being in hiding at the time.

His response reeks of anger and fury berating his traducers as people who speak with both mouth and their reactions as laughable and disgraceful.

Titled, “RE: The desperate lies of Ibapon Ward PDP — Facts don’t lie, I paid my dues in full,” he penned, ”My attention has been drawn to a laughable and disgraceful statement released by certain individuals parading themselves as leaders of the PDP in Ibapon Ward, Ogbomoso South. It is both unfortunate and ironic that these same persons — who once applauded my commitment to the PDP — have now resorted to cheap blackmail and name-calling.”

BSA now set out to respond to the specific issues raised. He laughed off the accusation he was not a card carrying member of the party arguing that if it was so how did he obtain the party’s nomination form for the Hous of Assembly enroute the last general elections?

“Not a card-carrying member?” He asked rhetorically, and then described it as a “bold lie.”

He justified, “One of the fundamental requirements to obtain a House of Assembly nomination form is a valid PDP membership card — and I had mine. It was used and verified during the process. To now deny that I was a member of the PDP is not just dishonest, it’s shameful. This is how PDP Ogbomoso South continues to live in denial — ignoring records and inventing falsehoods for convenience.”

The aggrieved politician also shed more light on why and how he returned to the PDP before the 2023 elections while waving off the attribution to him as an “Almajiri” politician on perpetual itinerary seeking what to gobble. He then proceeded to highlight his notable contributions to the party.

“They said l left NNPP because I couldn’t get a ticket! That is false again. I didn’t return to PDP because of desperation. It was Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi himself who called me and said, “You’re my person. I want you back in PDP.” I didn’t beg for that call. I didn’t lobby. I was invited.

“The same Otunba Ogunwuyi later called me again — on May 24th, 2025 — and said, ‘Don’t expect anything from me. You’re not part of my team.’

“This contradiction says a lot more about the crisis of integrity in the party than it does about me.

“Political Almajiri? Let’s talk receipts. I was among the few who kept PDP Ogbomoso South alive after the 2019 elections, while most of my critics went into hiding or silence.

Here’s what I did — and they know it: l awarded scholarships to children of PDP members. I financially supported over 30 widows in a programme hosted at the PDP Secretariat. I donated a motorcycle to the Okada Association to aid PDP campaign logistics. I distributed palliatives and support packages during the party’s dormant period. I branded and fueled buses used for PVC mobilisation, which helped increase our voter base — even benefitting the governor.

“These are facts, not fiction. Denying them only shows that PDP Ogbomoso South is allergic to truth and loyalty.”

On the allegation he was a passive member of the party, he fumed, “That is another lie. I served as a member of the campaign committees for both the Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates in the 2023 elections. I didn’t just attend meetings — I mobilised, strategised, and invested personal resources at every step. I even delivered a polling unit where known PDP leaders had consistently failed for years. My presence turned the tide — and they know it.”

He now slammed the party as lacking the culture of gratitude, integrity, truth and indulges in serving the whims of individuals rather than of the generality of the people.

“So, why the lies? Because I walked away. Not in anger, but in clarity. I left a PDP where integrity is optional, gratitude is dead, truth is attacked, and loyalty to individuals is valued over service to the people,” as he added, “They say I came to ‘use and move. But if empowering widows, fuelling campaigns, delivering votes, branding buses for mobilisation, …is what they call “using,” then perhaps PDP Ogbomoso South needs more people like me.”

BSA concluded by declaring, “This isn’t about bitterness. It’s about truth. The truth is: PDP Ogbomoso South is not just confused — it is trapped in denial. And denial always comes before collapse. Let the people judge. Not noise. Not lies. Just facts.”
