Artificial intelligence (AI) has been described as the future which has already begun with experts in the field urging Nigerians to embrace it to have an edge in a competitive world.
This was the highlight of the Edge Technologies’s summit at Ibadan, Oyo state capital last Saturday held at the at the American Open University.
The groundbreaking event titled, “Reskill, reinvent, rise” had as resource persons global tech experts including Dr. Seyi Akanbi, AI and VR/AR expert and President of The Edge Technologies and celebrated Nigerian actress Bukky Wright, who has transitioned into an information security expert.

In a passionate keynote address, Dr. Akanbi urged participants to embrace AI as a career path. “AI is no longer the future—it is now. Those who learn to master it will shape the world,” he said.
Workshops covered real-world applications of AI, cyber defense, and virtual reality, offering hands-on training to attendees eager to future-proof their careers. Bukky Wright shared her inspiring journey of transitioning from entertainment to tech, reinforcing the summit’s core message: career reinvention is possible for anyone.
The session also emphasized the explosive demand for cybersecurity skills, noting that “AI and cybersecurity are the twin pillars of tomorrow’s economy.”
