High cost of living: Church rolls out ‘Jesus Market’ – See details

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (Jesus Porch), Imalefalafia, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, Oyo state, has unveiled an innovative programme to sell food items of all kinds at half the price of market prices.
According to the minister-in-charge of the church, Pastor Ademola Olufeko, the special market to be called “Jesus Market,’ which will sell to members and the general public at large, is to cushion and mitigate the effects of the high cost of commodities.

Unveiling the initiative Sunday, Pastor Olufeko affirmed it is the responsibility of the church to feed people with spiritual and physical manna drawing his analogy from the scriptures in the book of Mathew Chapter 14 where the disciples wanted Jesus to send away the multitudes at night after a ministration, but Jesus declined and commanded them rather to feed the multitudes, an instruction that threw the disciples into amazement, wondering how and with what, but eventually they got 5 loaves and 2 fishes.

“All we have are five loaves of bread and two fish,” they protested. But Jesus said, “Bring them here.” Then he had the people sit on the grass. He took the five loaves and two fish, lifted his face to heaven in prayer, blessed, broke, and gave the bread to the disciples.

The cleric who is also the Assitant Provincial Pastor Oyo 4 Apapa family equally charged members not to be selfish with the special intervention offer, asking them to invite the general public as well.

He emphasized orderliness and excellence are the only criteria to participate in the special market’s offer, noting those who are able and willing to partner the church in the intervention exercise are welcome.

The “Jesus Market,” it is revealed shall commence operations on Sunday, 10th March, at the Adamolekun street Parish, Imalefalafia Okeado, Ibadan.
It is recalled Jesus Porch commenced free distribution of food items last year when the fuel subsidy was first removed and poverty was biting hard but this innovative version is designed to benefit wider people especially the vulnerable.
