It isn’t a fluke after all, the contractor who is to execute the reconstruction of the collapsed Bridge of Ogbegun River in Ogbomoso North local government as well as asphalt paving of the road leading into the expansive community, has moved to site.
When ogbomosoinsightonline.com visited the site Sunday, a grader was seen parked at a yard close to the river just as bushes around the river were being slashed.

A community leader, Mr. Lateef Oladimeji, informed the landlords association of the community assisted the contractor to secure the location that would serve as their base.
Oladimeji further stated the engineer led his men to mark the road; width, drainage location and extent Saturday adding that nothing less 0.6 kilometres of the road will be paved with asphalt.
Oaldimeji who was a long term chairman of the landlords association of Ogbegun disclosed the community is helping in other logistic matters to “ensure a smooth operation for the workmen.”

Recalling, he noted the landlords and other residents of the community put in great efforts to bring government’s attention to the road especially the bridge.
“When the bridge finally collapsed about two years ago, we ran to the Ogbomoso Central LCDA then being administered by Hon Seun Adeyinka who promised something would be done. The project was approved then but there was no financial commitment.
“We continued to run round, to push, writing letters, lobbying political office holders, agencies and so on but to no avail. The failure of the road put us in much distress as we now take longer routes to reach our residences. We therefore thank Governor Seyi Makinde for approving the contract.

“We also appreciate the chairman of Ogbomoso North local government, Hon Kabir Ayoade for his relentless effort to get the road approved just as we express gratitude to Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, and others, they are about to ease our stress,” he remarked urging the contractor to execute a good, durable road and bridge.
Meanwhile, the flag off of the project is slated for Tuesday this week.
