The EndSARS protest that has been rocking the country spilled into Ogbomoso today, Saturday. October 10, as students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, mobilized to stage the protest.
The students in their hundreds moved from the school’s main gate carrying placards with various inscriptions and singing songs of solidarity.
They went to the office of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) at WAZO Market and to the palace of Soun before proceeding to the Owode Police Station where they were addressed and urged to remain peaceful.
However, according to a police source, hoodlums at that point hijacked the protest and started hauling stones and other weapons into the station damaging many police vehicles in the process.
As a consequence, an armoured tank was brought out and live bullets were fired at the protesters..
The Insight learnt that three persons including two LAUTECH students were hit by stray bullets.
The third person who is not a student is reported to have given up the ghost while the two students are being tended at an undisclosed hospital.
When The Insight visited Owode Police station there were sounds of gun shots with everyone running helter skelter.
A later visit to the station revealed the armoured vehicle stationed in front of the place with stones of various sizes littering the whole place.
