Ogbomoso North begins rehabilitation of Apake road

Residents of Ogbomoso and travellers along the ever busy Ogbomoso-Ilorin federal trunk-A road, will soon heave a sigh of relief as the damaged portions of the stretch between Apake (Polaris Bank) and Ori-Oke Baptist Church, are to be rehabilitated.
This was disclosed to newsmen yesterday (October 8) by the caretaker chairman of Ogbomoso North local government, Hon Abiodun Ajagbe during a press conference held at the council secretariat, Kinnira.
Hon Ajagbe informed that the rehabilitation project due to begin today October 9 is at the instance of the Oyo state governor Engr. Seyi Makinde, stressing that the governor gave the directive during his visit to Ogbomoso last September 2 to flag off the rehabilitation of Under-G road as he passes through the badly dilapidated, crater-infested road.


The project, which will cost N41m is billed to be completed in two months.
The council boss now urged commutters and business owners along the route to bear with the government and cooperate with construction workers.
He thanked Governor Seyi Makinde effusively for the gesture noting that the state’s helmsman did not mind the road is a federal government’s road, ‘What matters to the governor is to bring succour to the citizens of the state.’
Toskay, as he is fondly called, therefore reiterated his loyalty and support as well as of the people of the local government to Governor Makinde.
He also used the occasion to reel out some of his achievements including provision of boreholes complete with oveehead tanks in Aaje, Ikose and at new cattle market; renovation of a block of three classrooms at Okelerin Baptist Basic School; patching of potholes along Aguodo/Oloojo/Taraa road;; and renovation and extension of Osupa Health Centre.
Mrs. Roseline Adeyemi, a.k.a. Iya Tosin, a food vendor at Apake, while speaking with The Insight expressed gratitude to the governor and council boss disclosing that the road had caused the death of many people as well as destruction of several properties.
