I have legislative experience, that makes me best for Ogbomoso South – Sanjay, as he seeks reelection

The Majority Leader of Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Sanjo Adedoyin, has declared that he has garnered requisite legislative experience that puts him ahead of competitors and makes him the best for Ogbomoso South State Constituency in the next general elections.

Hon Adedoyin presently representing the constituency and seeking reelection for a third term emphasized that experience in the House always places a lawmaker in vantage position to make the best contributions that would benefit his constituency and state in general.

Adedoyin stated this at the weekend while speaking with newsmen, describing public office as a “sacred trust,” and that “leadership is measured not by the promises made during campaigns but by the impact created through purposeful representation.”

Sanjay as he is fondly called, explained that he is borne by the philosophy that public service is about having listening ears, understanding their needs and working with sincerity to address them.

“For me, public service has always been about listening to the people, understanding their needs and working with sincerity to address them. Representation is a responsibility, not a privilege, and that philosophy has guided every decision I have made in office,” he said.

He asserted that he makes himself accessible to the people, is result-oriented and that his stewardship has been marked by “active legislative engagement, effective oversight and sustained advocacy on issues affecting education, healthcare, agriculture, youth development, infrastructure, security, workers’ welfare, environmental sustainability and digital governance.”

He reeled out some of his activities including sponsoring and supporting legislative initiatives, facilitating employment opportunities, promoting educational support programmes, championing constituency-focused interventions and maintaining close engagement with traditional institutions, community leaders, professional groups, youths and other stakeholders across Ogbomoso South, saying he is poised to do more if reelected.

This is as he maintained that governance must be inclusive and responsive to the needs of every segment of society.

“Every child deserves access to quality education in a safe and conducive environment. Every student should have opportunities through scholarships, bursaries, ICT support and innovation. Our youths deserve jobs, skills, empowerment and platforms to excel. Our elderly citizens deserve dignity, healthcare and social support, while every community deserves peace, security, unity and sustainable development. That is the vision that continues to inspire my service.”

According to him, this vision remains anchored on six strategic priorities assuring these would continue to shape his legislative focus: “Education, youth empowerment, infrastructure, healthcare, security, and transparent governance.”

He reiterated that strengthening educational infrastructure, expanding opportunities for students, supporting entrepreneurship and vocational training, improving healthcare delivery, facilitating infrastructure development and promoting safer communities remain central to his agenda for Ogbomoso South.

Hon. Adedoyin also reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and accountability, stressing that effective representation requires constant engagement with constituents and openness in public service.

“The people entrusted me with this responsibility, and they deserve accessible leadership, honest communication and measurable results. Representation should never be distant; it should be something the people can see, feel and benefit from in their daily lives.”

Asked why he is seeking a third term, he retorted that continuity in legislative representation is crucial for greater accomplishments that will contribute to moving the constituency forward, explaining that effective lawmaking is built on “experience, institutional knowledge and productive relationships developed over time.”

He added that a legislator’s effectiveness is not determined solely by contributions during plenary sessions, but also by the “ability to understand legislative procedures, build strategic partnerships, influence policy decisions and effectively advocate for constituency interests.”

“The longer a committed and performing legislator serves, the greater the experience acquired, the stronger the institutional relationships built, and the greater the opportunity to attract meaningful development to the constituency. Experience enhances effectiveness. It strengthens one’s capacity to advocate, negotiate and facilitate projects, programmes and interventions that improve the lives of the people.”

He noted that his experience in the House has enabled him to sponsor and support motions on critical sectors, facilitate employment opportunities, advocate for improved educational facilities, support youth-focused initiatives and engage relevant government institutions in pursuit of developmental projects for Ogbomoso South.

While acknowledging that much has been achieved, the lawmaker believes there is still more to accomplish.

“Development is a continuous journey. Every legislative session presents new opportunities to do more for our people. Another term is not about starting all over again; it is about consolidating on existing achievements, strengthening our voice in the Assembly and ensuring Ogbomoso South continues to receive the quality representation and development it deserves.”

Hon. Adedoyin further emphasized that sustainable development can only be achieved through collaboration between government and the people.

“Building a better Ogbomoso South is a shared responsibility. Government alone cannot do it. It requires the collective efforts of our traditional institutions, community leaders, youths, women, professionals, artisans and every well-meaning resident. Together, we can build stronger communities, create greater opportunities and secure a brighter future for generations to come.”

As discussions about the future of Ogbomoso South continue, Hon. Adedoyin maintains that his message remains simple and unwavering: “I will continue to listen. I will continue to serve. I will continue to deliver. By the grace of God and with the continued trust of our people, our work is not finished.”
