Prince Adegboyega Akanni Majolagbe of Alapa compound Ogbomoso Oyo state will be laid to rest today, Friday, June 27, 2025.
Prince Majolagbe died on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Rockville, Maryland, USA. He was 84 years old.
A funeral service will be held in his honour at Ori-Oke Baptist Church Ogbomoso, a church he served wholeheartedly while alive. Reception follows immediately.
Prince Majolagbe lived a remarkable life. “Our father left behind a remarkable legacy of kindness, love, care, and godliness. He was a pillar of strength, a source of inspiration, a great role model, and a beacon of wisdom whose warmth touched countless lives. His journey exemplified the power of faith, love, and unwavering dedication to family and community. While we deeply mourn his passing, we take comfort in the rich legacy he has left behind and his eternal relationship with Jesus Christ. His memory will forever remain in our hearts as we celebrate his extraordinary life,” it is noted in the opening chapter of his biography published in the burial programme bulletin.
He rose to prominence by sheer efforts, acquiring education by forcing it having had to run away from home to an uncle to begin educational journey, which took him to Ori-Oke Baptist Primary School, Ogbomoso (1955-1959), Fiditi Grammar School, Fiditi (1960-1964), Tweneboa Kodua Secondary School, Kumawu, Ashanti Region, Ghana (1965-1966), and Morgan State University, Baltimore, MD, USA (1973-1979), bagging B.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics (1978) and M.Sc. in Science Education – Math (Physics & Mathematics) (1979).
He served as a school teacher with meritorious contributions. His teaching career as Mathematics and Physics teacher spanned Queen’s School, Ibadan (1980-1982), Government Secondary School, Omu-Aran, Kwara state (1982-1983), Vice Principal, Ori-Oke Community High School, Ogbomoso (1984-1989) and Principal, Ikoyi Grammar School, Ogbomoso (1991-1993).
Meanwhile, in 1983, he had a brief break from teaching as he got appointed as Special Adviser to the Governor of Oyo State, Victor Omololu Olunloyo (Oct.- Dec. 1983), whose burial incidentally was held yesterday in Ibadan.
After his voluntary retirement in 1993, he ventured into politics and got appointed as Chairman, Surulere Local Government, Oyo State serving between 1994 and 1996.

He returned to America and taught Mathematics at Isaac Gourdine Middle School, USA (1999-2010).
Pa Majolagbe was instrumental to the founding of Ogbomoso Parapo USA in 1972. He was a patriotic Ogbomoso son who contributed in several other areas to its development. At a time he was the regent of the Okin-Apa Kingdom being a royal of the lineage.
He was survived by wife, Madam Agnes Adunola Opatoyinbo, children, grandchildren and many family.
“He lived by example, demonstrating unwavering faith in God, a deep love for family, and a commitment to service … Though he has departed from this world, his spirit and legacy will continue to shine brightly,” it is stated in the concluding part of his biography.
