Hon Prince Emmanuel Adekoyejo Oyelaran is dead. He reportedly died Sunday evening at Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, Oyo state, during a brief illness. He would have celebrated his 70^th birthday in September this year.

Family sources confirmed the death to ogbomosoinsightonline.com this afternoon.

The late Hon Oyelaran was a Prince of Ajaawa (headquarters of Ogo-Oluwa local government), and was a teacher for many years at Ogbomoso Baptist High School where he taught Agricultural Science and was a beloved of the students. He later resigned from teaching to participate actively in politics, at a time seeking to be chairman of Ogo-Oluwa local government. In 2004, he made a strong show in his bid and many believed he was robbed of the position as he forced the contest into a rerun.

He later was appointed member of the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), and thereafter got appointed as Oyo State Commissioner in the Public Complaints Commission (PCC), Abuja. He continued to be active in politics until his transition yesterday.

His death was described as “a great loss,” by many who sympathized with the family.

His remains would be committed to mother earth on Friday this week at Ajaawa, his hometown.

Note: This story has been corrected. We formerly put the deceased as Commissioner in the Federal Character Commission (FCC) instead of Public Complaints Commission (PCC) so the correction has been effected.
