Members of Aremo branch of the Olaoye ruling house of Soun dynasty of Ogbomoso have pledged their allegiance and support to the reigning Soun of Ogbomosoland His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III.
Majority of the members of the Aremo subsection, ogbomosoinsightonline.com learned, previously withheld their support for Oba Ghandi because they could not come to terms with his emergence as the Soun. The family threw its weight behind one of its own emerging the Soun in 2022 and so refused to balk when the former pastor was announced. Led by people like Alhaji Tewogbola Cashman (who however passed away recently) and others, the branch insisted it must be the turn of the Aremo family to produce the next Soun. Oba Ghandi is from Kape branch of the Laoye ruling house. The last to occupy the position from the Laoye ruling house Oba Oke Lanipekun Olaoye Orumogege II also hailed from Kape family.

So, a good number of the family members drew a battleline with Oba Ghandi.
But Thursday, the princes and princesses of the family led by the chairman of the family, Imam Muftaudeen Alebiosu Olaoye, and the Bale paid a courtesy visit to the Palace of Soun to declare total support for the monarch.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Imam Muftaudeen Olaoye said the good reports they have been hearing about Oba Ghandi dictated their move.
“Since you have ascended the throne of our fathers, you have demonstrated you are a visionary Oba. You are an Oba that is righteous, borne by a strong discretion of good and bad, driven by a desire to develop the community and is enlightened. Such qualities we have seen in you are what convinced us we should embrace you Kabiyesi,” Imam Olaoye declared.

The Oba subsequently held a close door meeting with members of the family requesting newsmen to leave the venue.
The development is a major boost and has swollen the support base of the co-chairman Oyo State Traditional Council.
