In his sermon, Rev’d Dr. O.A. Olaniyan, pastor of Christ Heritage Baptist Church, emphasized the inevitability of death urging the congregation to prepare for hereafter.

“Death respects no one,” the cleric noted, “You must be knowledgeable about death. Those we say died are not dead they only sleep. If death comes, will you go to heaven? Death is inevitable, the body will turn to sand, our spirit will go back to God. Meanwhile, death is not the end, we will face judgment based on how we lived our lives.”

Alaaje who was not present in the church in a tribute lamented the death of his better half, wondering while she had to die early and not enjoy the fruit of her labour. He extoled her virtues portraying her as a dependable and devoted wife, who despite his usual absence on account of his nature of work trained the children well and remained committed to the marriage.

In an emotional tribute titled, “My pride and joy, sleep well, rest in perfect peace,” Alaaje said, ”

Oh my joy, Rebecca Olabisi Amao, you left me suddenly and unexpectedly. However, our God is not questionable. I will forever remember this day, 26th December, 2025, we had a long joke all morning and early afternoon. Ironically, it was the same date I lost my dad in 1976. Oh, my Rebecca, why did you leave me so soon? But glory be to God, you brought up our children well morally and education-wise. I love you and can never forget you. Of all the businesses I entrusted to people, it was only the one under your supervision that was successful. You made life easy for me even when I was not around as your husband due to the nature of my job, serving the nation. Oh! Rebecca, why did you leave me so soon? You were virtuous and a woman of great character, so good and adorable. These attributes you instilled in our children. I have no regret in you being my wife. If there is a next world, I will not hesitate to choose you again. Oh, my Rebecca, why did you leave me so soon! I am at a loss, why didn’t you live longer to enjoy the fruit of our labour together? You were very hardworking, trustworthy, and a prayer warrior. You were good, humble, intelligent, firm and a philanthropist, who loved children dearly and was devoted to their upbringing. I have greatly missed you, my Jewel That is Beyond Estimation! You used to say millions are women but only few are intelligent, respectable, have dignity and integrity, I consider you as one of those rare breeds. Given another chance, if there is a next world, I will still pick you as my wife. Oh, my Rebecca, why did you leave me so soon! Despite the fact I was always an away husband, when in service (DSS), you upheld the best values, you were always there for me and the children playing dual role of mother and father. I will forever love you, “You came, you saw, you conquered” in the true meaning of the words of Julius Caesar. That is a legacy good enough for me and the children. You left me and the children to continue the battle of life, I know God will fight for us. Oh, my pride and joy, sleep well, rest in perfect peace. Adieu!”

Her daughter, Dr. Bukola Taiwo Amao, also in her tribute titled, “You deserved far more that what this earth could offer,” stated, “Iyaami, words can never truly capture the depth of what I feel. This loss came as a rude shock. You know I can never be ready but the records show that you got me prepared. I am immensely grateful to God for allowing you to live a life that continues to inspire and make life meaningful even after your passing. Thank you for the parting prayers on that historic Boxing Day, 2025. I wouldn’t have forgiven myself if I hadn’t eventually picked the call. It hurts so bad that I did not eventually cook my new found sea food recipe for you, odunmigan. May you continue to rest, praise, and worship your God, free from all distractions of this world in your new home, with Jesus. Remember to greet Him for me. Once again, this has only strengthened my belief that your Jesus, my Jesus, can truly be trusted. He knew you deserved far more than what this earth could offer. Good night, Mama. Your life was a blessing, and even in death, you remain a blessing us. See you on the resurrection morning.”

Many others eulogized her in their tributes all which stressed her humanitarianism leaning.
