ORC Golf Captainship: Encomium as Amstrong completes tenure, new captain emerges

Chief Amstrong ‘Pekun Olaleye on Monday received showers of encomium as he rounded off his tenure as Captain of of Ogbomoso Recreation Club (ORC) Golf Section.

Chief Olaleye who is Agbaakin of Okin-Apa subsequently handed over to a new captain, Engr Yinka Aderibigbe.

Members in their various comments commended Olaleye for his commitment in championing the cause of Ogbomoso Recreation Club Golf Section during his tenure.

Olaleye in his remark, appreciated members for the “immense support” he received, saying their dedication made his tenure a success.

He also gave a big kudos to his team saying “they are the heroes of the success achieved,” specifically mentioning Prof Jide Ajao, a former Dean Faculty of Agriculture Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, for thanks. “Prof Jide Ajao, I cannot thank you enough for everything.”

The new captain Engr Aderibigbe, who was formerly secretary, said, “ORC has undergone remarkable transformation and growth under his leadership. His dedication and vision have laid a strong foundation upon which we can continue to build.”

The ORC president, Dr. Akin Oladeji John Brown remarked, “Pekun, your tenure was eventful, and we all appreciate the vibrancy brought to the Golf section. Congratulations for a successful reign.”

“Brigadier General S. G. Ladipo (rtd) stated, “Congratulations on a most successful tour of duty. You took ORC Golf Section to enviable heights with signature projects to showcase.

“I remember the difficulties and challenges faced and the boldness and determination with which they were surmounted,” particularly commending him for the outstanding success recorded in “The Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III Golf Tournament,” during the coronation ceremony, which he noted, “remains indelible in the minds of golfers and guests. May ORC Golf Section continue on this growth trajectory to the glory of God and Ogbomosoland.”

Another prominent ORC member, Barrister Bankole, eulogized, “Pekun, you are a dream come true in this section of the club while it lasted. A higher calling is definitely beckoning for the Capoo of capoos. Tre bien.”

Meanwhile, he was charged not to relent and to build on his leadership qualities.

The section’s annual general meeting was held on Monday, 29th April 2024.
