Oyo govt recommends Soun Ògúnlolá site, Bower’s Towers, others for tourism investors

Oyo state Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun, has urged investors to invest in Soun Ògúnlolá site in Ogbomoso, the Bower’s Tower in Ibadan, Aso Ofi festival in Iseyin, Sango festival in Oyo, Twins festival in Ibarapa, among others in the state.

The Commissioner made this remark Saturday at the Oyo State International Tourism Summit in Ibadan, which had entered its second day.

 

This is as the State Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal disclosed the Oyo state government is putting necessary infrastructural facilities in place at every towns and cities, to endear the state’s tourist sites to prospective investors and also give them value for their investments.

Barrister Lawal stated this while addressing stakeholders at the second day of the State International Tourism Summit in Ibadan.

 

Lawal added that the government is leaving no stone unturned at giving residents and visitors in the state an atmosphere that is conducive to private, social and economic development.

 

He encouraged investors to take advantage of the mutually beneficial atmosphere presented by the government, noting that the main goal of tourism development is to open opportunities for all.

Soun Ògúnlolá site in Ogbomoso is under the Ajagbon tree where the founder of Ogbomoso, Soun Ogundiran Ogunlola, set his camp when he arrived the place on hunting expedition in the 1600s.

The historical site, which is one of the plethora of places that what is today’s Ogbomoso began, has been preserved and beside it is where the magnificent palace of the city stands today. The Ajagbon tree meanwhile fell during a rainstorm in May 2022.

 

It’s one of the tourists centres in Ogbomoso zone, the acclaimed City of Valiant.

  1. What’s the unique selling point of Soun Ogunllola Site? Apart from tourist sites with strong historical monuments, modern tourist attractions are created.
