Rev’d Adegboyega: Date fixed for burial as police arraign suspected killers

Rev’d Solomon Oluwasegun Adegboyega, the cleric killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Ogbomoso, Oyo state, will be buried next Friday March 8.

The burial service fixed for 10am will come up at Methodist Cathedral Arowomole, Ogbomoso.
It’s learnt the police authorities gave the clearance for the burial following conclusion of the autopsy the report of which is already in the possession of the police.

“Attention Brethren, This is to inform the general public that The Final Burial of late Pastor Segun Adegboyega comes up on Friday 8th March, 2024 @ Methodist Cathedral, Arowomole Ogbomoso by 10am endorsed by lord Bishop Moradeyo after results of autopsy confirmed by Oyo State Police Headquarters Iyaganku Ibadan. Thank you all,” the message confirmed.
Rev’d Adegboyega, 45, recall was hacked to death by the suspects at the back of his house at Gege area along Iseyin road few weeks ago after complaining grazing cattle were destroying his backyard farm.
His neighbours quickly mobilized after discovering the brutal slaughter and were able to apprehend three Fulani herdsmen whom they took to the Soun Palace.

Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, the Soun, after empathizing with them summoned the Area Commander from Police Command Headquarters, Owode to take the suspects into custody.
A drama meanwhile ensued the second day as the three suspects were being transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, Ibadan, when the suspects suddenly pointed out a Fulani man walking along the road at High School area Ogbomoso, disclosing to the police he was the actual “killer.” He was immediately arrested.

The deceased cleric is survived by a wife and three children, the first of whom is presently seeking admission into a higher institution. The second child is in SS 2 while the third is in JSS 3.
In the meantime the four suspects have been arraigned at a Magistrate Court in Ogbomoso. The next sitting is March 12
