The principal suspect in the gruesome killing of Evangelist Segun Adegboyega in Gege area of Ogbomoso, Oyo state, last week, was newly engaged as a herder, investigation has revealed.

A source close to the Fulani community in Ogbomoso informed ogbomosoinsightonline.com that the herder who allegedly struck the cleric with a dagger after he cautioned them against grazing their cow on his backyard farm was newly employed by his boss having just arrived from the northern part of the country.

 

“He is new here, he just came down from the north and recruited to assist in herding cattle in the area,” an informed source disclosed.

In another development kinsmen of the principal suspect and some Fulani leaders have been running helter skelter to placate the family of the deceased and particularly seeking how to make contribution in terms of compensation or assistance.

 

But ogbomosoinsightonline.com learned so far they are being rebuffed.

“They are trying to find ways of coming in, in terms of compensation to the family of the deceased but nobody is listening to them.”

 

In the meantime, the family is trying to raise the huge amount needed to conduct the autopsy on the body of the late clergyman as demanded by the police.

 

The autopsy report it is disclosed will aid the prosecution of the suspects as it will be demanded in the court.

 

“But it’s not a small money needed to fund this,” a source close to the family said.

 

Recall four persons have been arrested in connection with the incident and are cooling their heels at the state crime investigation department at Iyaganku, Ibadan.
