Ayede Poly upgrades to 12 ND progs, as construction ramps up at permanent site

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted Federal Polytechnic Ayede, located in Ogbomoso zone of Oyo State, an approval to commence eight more National Diploma (ND) programmes.

This is consequent upon the resources’ inspection exercise carried out by the NBTE between December 27 and December 30, 2023.

 

This is as construction activities at the permanent site of the institution progress at an impressive rate.

The newly approved ND programmes, according to a letter dated January 17, 2024 by the NBTE Executive Secretary, Prof. Idris M. Bugaje, to the Rector of the institution, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, include Electrical Electronics Engineering Technology; Accountancy; Business Administration and Management; and Public Administration.

 

Others are Agricultural Technology; Urban and Regional Planning; Estate Management and Valuation; and Tourism Management Technology.

 

Established in 2021 during the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, the polytechnic now offers twelve (12) ND programmes.

 

The four older programmes for which students had been admitted are Computer Engineering Technology; Computer Science; Science Laboratory Technology and Statistics.

According to the Admission Office of the institution, admission is in progress in all the 12 ND programmes for another academic session.

 

Speaking through the institution’s Protocols and Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sunday Adepoju, Dr. Abdul-Hameed thanked the NBTE, the management, academic board and the entire polytechnic community for their relentless effort towards achieving the approval of the programmes.

He said, “The approval from NBTE serves as a testament to the Institution’s commitment to providing high-quality technical education in these crucial fields. The commencement of these ND programmes aligns with the Polytechnic’s vision of being a world class institution for innovative and technical education reputed for adding value to human development through enterprising and innovative graduates.

“The Institution believes that the addition of these new ND programmes will further enhance the educational experience of the students and contribute to the development of skilled professionals in various technical and managerial fields, thereby supporting the nation’s socio-economic development agenda.

Another structure under construction

“On behalf of the Management and Academic Board, we express our gratitude to the NBTE, led by Prof. Idris M. Bugaje, immensely for its support and approval of the new programmes. The institution remains committed to upholding the high academic standards and ensuring that students receive comprehensive quality technical and managerial education that prepares them for successful careers in life.

Few days ago, the rector led the principal officers; deans; and others to inspect the ongoing projects at the institution’s permanent site in Ayede.

The director of physical planning of the polytechnic and chairman of projects monitoring committee, Arc. Dr. Kolawole Opeyemi Morakinyo, and members of his committee were there to give the C. E. O. briefs on the progress made so far regarding the projects.

Recall the polytechnic presently operates from a temporary site at Iresaapa in Surulere local government area.
