STILL ON LAUTECH FACULTY OF AGRIC RELOCATION: OPEN LETTER TO GOV MAKINDE AND OTHER OYO STAKEHOLDERS

It is imperative that we let the world know the situation of things concerning the relocation of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Renewable Natural Resources Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo state, to the Iseyin campus. And why Governor Oluseyi Makinde needs to rescind the decision. This is as we call on other well-meaning leaders in Nigeria and Oyo State especially to have more than passing interest in the matter and come to our aid.

We state categorically that the Iseyin project is not working, it is a failed project because it’s contrived to fulfill not educational purposes or advancement of knowledge but selfish agendas.

Quality of education at Iseyin is questionable, it’s compromised – it’s nothing to write home about. We had exams without thorough supervision, security personnel had to be drafted in as invigilators. Our GNS 208 exam was a scam. In all our courses we were poorly taught, no practical classes, which is a negation of the basis of a practical-inclined programme.

The provost and LAUTECH management, you’re depriving us quality education that we’re paying for. Our provost is a man without conscience. Help us to ask him if he was trained this way.

We’re suffering and the provost and other lecturers are aware of all this mess. You people are heartless and wicked.

It’s a pity that this is happening in a country that’s practicing democracy. Nobody listens to us, nobody considers our plight. We’re all confused that, what we’re experiencing with Gov. Makinde is totally different from what we knew him for.

There is every reason to return us to our accredited campus. Iseyin campus was not designed for agricultural programmes as practicals are the backbone of any agricultural programmes.

We’re therefore calling on well-meaning Nigerians to come to our aid, we’re suffering, accomodations and transportation remain huge challenges. Security situation also makes us live under constant fear. Many of us have dropped out.

What kind of society is this?.

Start Iseyin campus with fresh students/admission.

For the sake of posterity Gov. Makinde it’s high time you took a position on our plight.

Thank you.

Signed:

Concerned Students at Iseyin campus of LAUTECH.
