Oyo govt to begin eviction of shop owners on schl premises in Ogbomoso Dec 1

The Oyo state Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources has issued an eviction notice to owners of illegal structures, shops and shanties shielding public primary and secondary school premises in the Ogbomoso metropolis.

ogbomosoinsightonline.com learned from operators of such structures around schools that they had been given till December 1 to vacate to avoid demolition of their structures.

 

The issuance of the eviction notice was confirmed to ogbomosoinsightonline.com Wednesday by some environmental health officials at Oke-Owode axis who said they were on duty to verbally inform illegal users of school lands that they had till December 1 to evacuate their structures.

Asked how the order would be carried out they retorted it would be supervised by teams from the ministry of environment, Ibadan.

 

Recall the move for eviction started when the state governor Engr Seyi Makinde gave the directive about three months ago when he personally noticed the infraction in Ibadan.

 

About a month ago the Ministry led by the Commissioner, Architect Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, led government a team to evacuate three hundred and fifty nine (359) illegal structures and shanties in Ibadan metropolis.

 

Arc. Mogbonjubola had earlier directed the issuance of eviction letters to the effect, which were dispatched through the principals and heads of the affected schools.

It is learnt many schools abided by the directive as schools’ heads confirmed they issued the letters, which were acknowledged.

 

From the latest development the ministry officials are reaching out directly to the illegal occupiers to give them December 1 deadline.

 

A welder, who did not however give his name, on a school land said environmental health officers came calling Wednesday to tell him and others to vacate latest morning of December 1.
