Your choice of Ayede Poly best – Rector, warns students against indecencies, as institution matriculates 211

The Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Ogbomoso, Oyo state held its maiden matriculation ceremony Friday at the temporary site of the institution at Iresaapa, Surulere local government area, in which 211 pioneers signed oath as bonafide students.
Scattered in four departments (schools) viz Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Science Laboratory Technology and Statistics, the students along with the institution’s management and staff were congratulated by the various guests who spoke at the occasion including Aresa of Iresapupa, Oba Moses Olayiwola Ajiboye III; Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara state, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamorudeen Oluwatoyin; Provost of Federal College of Education, Iwo, Osun state, Prof R.ofiu Adebayo; and Malam Bala Adamu (of the Department of Polytechnic and Allied Institutions) who represented the Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Education, Mr. Andrew David Adejo.
In his address the Rector of Ayede Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-hameed, emphasized the polytechnic is focused on producing enterprising and innovative graduates, who will be employable and job creators.

Dr. Abdul-hameed noted the reality in the country demands students are trained and be impacted with requisite skills so they don’t end up searching endlessly for unavailable jobs after graduation but to become job creators.
He affirmed the institution to be first among equals asserting that of the six federal polytechnics established at the same time Ayede Poly remains the numero uno. He boasted it had attained a level its peers are yet to attain.
The former don at the Federal Polytechnic Ede maintained the focus is to make the institution a cynosure of academic excellence and entrepreneurship training.
“Today, history is being written because we are matriculating our first set of students. Since the establishment of the Polytechnic along five others, we have been tirelessly working to make the institution a cynosure of academic excellence and entrepreneurship training.”
Admitting it had been an arduous and daunting journey he stated, “But we have remained resolute in our approaches towards excellence. It is with a sense of humility that l say that of all the Polytechnics established together with ours, none has reached the level we are today…
“We have envisioned our Polytechnic to be a world class institution for innovative and technical education reputed for adding values to human developments through enterprising and innovative graduates. Our students have made the right choice of coming here and on behalf of the Management and the Academic Board, I congratulate our dear matriculating students of historical significance, parents and guardians for choosing our Polytechnic where they (students) will experience innovations and enterprise with a difference in this era of entrepreneurship and self-reliance campaign.”
He underlined the institution had a lot in the pipeline assuring “very soon, you will see that our main business is to produce employable graduates and job creators. We want to teach you in such a way that you will be employers of labour and not to start looking for jobs here and there.”
The Rector charged the students to make best use of the opportunities they are availed with reminding them jobs are no longer available and so “think of how to empower yourselves through the training you have started receiving here. Don’t leave any stone unturned.”
He added, “It is also crucial to admonish you on the acute need to eschew all forms of social vices and other actions that stray from accepted norms in our societies like cultism, prostitution, indecent dressing, drug addiction, pocket-picking, robbery, examination fraud, hooliganism, thuggery, gambling, smoking, sexual immorality among others.”
He warned, “All of these will be well enforced, and on the indecent dressing, the Polytechnic has strategically made the dress code available to be strictly adhered to by students.”
The Rector highlighted some of the successes of his administration which included great leap in human development and capacity building through series of training, workshops and conferences (national and international), massive infrastructural developments at both the temporary and permanent sites as well as breakthroughs in fostering of collaborations with institutions and organizations which he disclosed are contributing to the successes being recorded.
This is as he took time to express gratitude to the many individuals and groups he said had made significant contributions to the progress of the institution.
