seyin, headquarters of Iseyin local government in Oke-Ogun area of Oyo state, is currently under the siege of kidnappers and assassins which had resulted in millions in ransom taking and murder of some of the victims.

This is according to a report monitored Monday by Ogbomoso Insight on Agidigbo FM Ibadan, anchored by Oriyomi Hazmat.

Hamzat the CEO of the station in save-our-soul call to the Oyo state government to intervene in the crisis lamented the community is now gripped with fear.

Also confirming the news indigenes of the town who spoke with Ogbomoso Insight on telephone said the situation is precarious and needed urgent solution.

“That is what is happening, kidnappers have invaded our town, people are being abducted for ransom, it is a serious situation. That’s the state of things,” an indigene who preferred anonymity informed.

The Agidigbo report put the number of victims so far at about ten within few days.

One of the victims according to Hamzat is Wasiu Moshood Wamod Kogerun, a popular iron rod trader in Iseyin.

The case of this man was particularly pathetic as forty million naira (N40m) ransom was said to have been collected from him after which he lost his life.

“After the criminals collected N40m ransom from Wamod, he was released but he had sustained a lot of injuries and suffered physical exhaustion leading to his being hospitaized where he eventually passed on.”

Some other victims are Alhaji Jimoh Welder (also killed); Rahman Ramfona, a phone seller; Saliu, a fowl seller; Muraina, a tractor driver and Alhaji Tukura Abuke.

“People of the town walk with fear now and those in the diaspora are afraid to come home, something needed to be done urgently,” another residentq stated.

ogbomosoinsightonlime.com further learned that the men of the underworld mostly Fulani acting in collusion with Yoruba elements are so brazen that they strike in broad daylight to abduct people.

“And after their dastardly act they always head towards Okeho, a nearby community, with their victims,” it was revealed.

“Many other kidnapped vuctims are still being held by the kidnappers with their people looking for money to ransom them.”

Iseyin is the proposed site for the College of Agricultural Sciences Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, which students of the institution disapproving of the relocation protested against last week Tuesday.
