Ogbegun road project progresses at impressive rate, see photos

Within a week of commercement of work at the Ogbegun road project in Ogbomoso North local government area of Oyo state much ground has been covered.
Ogbomoso Insight visited the project site Sunday afternoon, and the contractors were on ground working assiduously.
The bridge foundation had been made.already complete with concrete and piers and other supports just as deck is being prepared.
Elsewhere, near the bridge an excavator is seen digging out the drainage pit while further up men are putting concrete to reinforce the foundation of the already dug out drainage.
“The workmen are at the site by 6:30 am and work late into the night,” a resident, Kehinde Adejumo informed.
He added, ”The work rate is impressive, l don’t think this project will last more than three months if it is up to that.”
The chairman of Ogbomoso North local government Hon Kabir Ayoade, according to a post on his verified Facebook page, was at the project site Saturday for inspection along with some top functionaries of his government.
The post titled, “Re-construction of Ogbegun Bridge and construction of Papa Ologbin road,” reads, “Anyone who is familiar with the popular Ogbegun Community of Ogbomoso and its environs knows the importance of the Ogbegun River and the main access road to the lives of about 5,000 people living within the Community. That is why as an administration, we have continued to commit so much to the constant dredging and maintenance of the road and river to prevent flooding and other environmental hazards that can arise especially during rainy season.
“The constant dredging and other maintenance practices were all done to prevent disasters but we are not oblivious of the fact that they are only temporary preventive measures but for the huge resources required to execute the project, we sought for the intervention of the State Government.
“We are glad to inform the good people of Ogbegun Community and its environs that His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde graciously approved the project for immediate execution, and it has since begun.
“We officially flagged off the project on Monday, the 5th of December and we rest assured of its completion in good time. The project which will not only guarantee the safety of our people and their properties more but make the transportation of people and goods easier and smoother.”
The people of Ogbegun have continued to express gratitude to the governor Engr Seyi Makinde for approving the project and Hon Kabir Ayoade for his efforts in seeing to its approval.
“It’s a big relief,” a landlord in the area said.
