Don of global repute dies at LAUTECH

Professor Olajire was a reputable chemist while alive and won many International awards.
He was rated number 3 on the list of the ten top world class scientists in Nigeria.
The 59 year old Professor of Industrial/Environmental Chemistry wrote a lot of Chemistry textbooks recognized and being recommended for use nationally and internationally.
A student of the Department described his death as a great loss to the academic world.
He was an alumnus of both the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife and University of Ibadan.
He was employed in LAUTECH in 1990 as an Assistant Lecturer.

Professor Abass Abiola Olajire, a Senior Lecturer at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, this afternoon slumped and died in a mosque while observing Solatul Jum’at.
A lecturer who confirmed his death to ogbomosoinsightonline.com said both staff and students from Chemistry department are currently mourning and in panic mood.
One of the medical students that was at LAITECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso when he was brought in also told our correspondent that he died at Ansarudeen Mosque while praying and was quickly rushed to teaching Hospital where he was confirmed dead.

He was a native of Ibadan.
