Prof N.D. Oyerinde reincarnates as book, Iwe Itan Ogbomoso, is set for re-launch at OCF AGM

A historical publication, History of Ogbomoso (Iwe Itan Ogbomoso) written by the late erudite scholar, Professor Nathaniel D. Oyerinde is to be launched on Friday, December 16, 2022.
The event will hold at the Ogbomoso Recreation Club by 2.00pm.
The publication which was reprinted by the Ogbomoso Community Foundation (OCF), a socio-cultural and non -political organisation will have Dr Samson Adegoke ( Maigida) as chief launcher while the co-launchers will be AVM J.B Adigun (rtd) who is also the Akogun of Ogbomosoland, Barrister Kayode Bankole, Engr. Open Salawu and Alhaji Monsur Lamidi Ejide.
The Special Guest of Honour at the event is the Hon Minister of Youth and Sports Development and the Agbaakin of Ogbomosoland, Chief Sunday Dare while RT. Hon. Justice Afolabi Adeniran, who is also the President, Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaaye (Ogbomoso Parapo Worldwide) will be the Chairman.
The publication, according to OCF, among other reasons is to preserve the history of the ancient city of Ogbomoso as recorded, documented and bequeathed by the late renowned scholar to meet the desire and yearnings of sons and daughters of Ogbomosoland seeking knowledge about their origin.
The socio-cultural organization also said proceeds from the book launch will be invested in the general development of Ogbomosoland.
Earlier on that day, the Annual General Assembly (AGA) will hold at the same venue to formally brief all Stakeholders about the activities of OCF and its affiliates.
ogbomosoinsightonline.com recalls that the book which has become the official early history of Ogbomoso was first published in 1934.
The author, Professor Nathaniel Durojaye Oyerinde, born in Ile-Igbagbo, Isale-Afon, Ogbomoso, in 1875, aside the book contributed immensely to the growth bad progress of Ogbomoso in many diverse ways such as founding Ogbomoso Progressive Union in 1912 that transformed into Ogbomoso Parapo; being a frontrunner in the establishment of earliest schools in the town like Ogbomoso Peoples Institute, Ogbomoso Grammar School and Ogbomoso Girls High School; being a member of Federal Legislative Councils representing Oyo/Ogbomoso Provinces; as fulltime member of Ogbomoso District Council; wrote and submitted a memorandum on economic development of Ogbomoso; being chairman of Ogbomoso Education Committee for many years; chairman of the Board of the Nigeria Training Centre for the Blind, Ogbomoso; and was involved in several community development activities.
For his efforts he was honoured as Otun Baale of Ogbomoso, a title conferred by late Baale Alabi Afolabi Oyewumi Ajagungbade III in 1936.
He also bagged the prestigious award of OBE during Queen Elizabeth II birthday honour in 1947 just as he was made member of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (MFR) by the Head of State of Nigeria and in 1950 he was appointed a justice of the Peace (JP).
He died on April 18, 1977 at the ripe age of 102..
