Residents of Ogbegun and allied communities in Ogbomoso North local government area are in jubilant mood following the approval of contract for the reconstruction of a collapsed bridge that connects the areas to the outside world.

The bridge collapsed about two years ago, a situation that threw the whole community into stress as they now go through longer routes to reach outside their enclaves.
“It is hectic after the bridge broke down,” a landlord in the area, who preferred anonymity, told ogbomosoinsightonline.com, adding, “We now go longer distance to join the main road leading to Owode. It is tasking in terms of resources and physical stress.”
He explained the efforts made by the landlords association of Ogbegun community to have the bridge reconstructed but to no avail.

The chairman of Ogbegun Landlords Association, Mr. Reuben Omoniyi, also informed that roads in the area had become un-motorable due to dilapidation arising from erosion, “We wrote many letters to governments, parastatals, politicians and other individuals to assist in the reconstruction of the bridge and the road but no assistance came.

“But thank God the contract for the reconstruction of the bridge and road had been awarded. It is a big relief. We learned of this through the chairman of Ogbomoso North local government that approval had been issued in respect of the road. We thank His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde and the council chairman, Hon Kabir Akanji Ayoade for this gesture.”
ogbomosoinsightonline.com spoke with Hon Kabir Ayoade on phone and he confirmed the development assuring contractors would soon move to site to commence the work.
