Ogbomoso, headquarters of the zone with same name in Oyo state, is not relenting taking its fair share from the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The 1600s-founded city has particularly had it a bit good under the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Under the administration, many indigenes were given federal appointments including a Ministerial position (Minister for Youth and Sports Development), a health centre, Federal Fire Service, federal radio station and Federal Polytechnic.

In addition, repair and construction of several intra-city road projects have been undertaken.

All these did not just come but through the influence of well-placed indigenes in government, who were driven by patriotism for their fatherland.

But while the administration is winding down, and hope of securing further goodies from the Federal Government recedes, a new project has been approved for Ogbomoso, which is a cheering news to people who desire to travel out of the country from this axis.

An exclusive news obtained by ogbomosoinsightonline.com Friday has it that a passport office has been approved for the city by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

According to the approval letter the host community would build the office in accordance with the specifications of the NIS.

In the letter, titled, “Re: Request for the establishment of passport office at Ogbomosho North Local Government Area, Oyo State,” dated October 27, and signed by the Compotroller-General of NIS, Isa Idris, it’s stated, “I wish to acknowledge receipt of your letter referenced OGB.N.2110/169, dated 9th July, 2022 on the above subject matter conveying your Council’s request for the Service to establish a Passport office at Ogbomosho North LG, Oyo State for which purpose your Council further promised to construct the Passport office and Staff quarters respectively; albeit in accordance with NIS approved building specifications.”

The letter further notes, “I am delighted to inform you that the Nigeria Immigration Service Management has approved your request and I am using this medium to officially convey the approval for the project.

“Be assured that the Service shall very soon make available to you the approved prototype design to enable the commencement of this worth-while project.

“While appreciating this commendable gesture, please accept the assurances of my esteemed considerations and warm regards.”

With this development, individuals seeking to obtain fresh passport, renew passport, correct data, acquire ECOWAS Travel Certificate, entry visa and so on can now undertake the process here when the office takes off, thus effectively eliminating the need to travel to Ilorin, Ibadan, Ekiti, Minna and other locations for the purposes.
