Rector gives likely date for resumption of pioneer students at Ayede Poly

Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Dr. Engr. Taofeeq Adekunle Abulhameed, has hinted that the pioneer students of the institution will resume academic activities this October.
Dr Abdulhameed gave this hint Monday while speaking with newsmen at the commissioning of an annex of Zoe Schools, Irewolede Estate, Ogbomoso.
Abdulhameed who was guest speaker at the event which also featured the tenth valedictory service of the school, while responding to a question on when the polytechnic would come alive with the pioneer students said major underground works had been accomplished revealing that October was the probable date for commencement of academic activities.
According to him an assessment of number and adequacy of staff had been carried out by the appropriate authorities just as he informed the management had seen to the task of documentations in relevant places.
“We are trying our possible best, already we had concluded engagement with the National Board of Technical Education for resource inspection, and hopefully this October we are expecting them to come around.”
Highlighting some of his accomplishments since assuming office as rector, he stated, “There are so many things, you know it is a new institution, in terms of documentation let me start with that, when you talk about documentation there are so many things to be documented, with the Federal Ministry of Finance, Federal Ministry of Education, Head of Service and many others even the National Assembly.
“So, in terms of documentation, we have completed virtually everything and I want to assure you part of our achievement is the administrative building we are having at our temporary campus, it is an achievement, donated to us by the Federal Ministry of Works through a notable personality that I will not want to mention his name.”
Meanwhile, for the record, Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Ogo-Oluwa local government of Oyo state, established in January 2021, has with great support from Ogbomoso indigenes under the aegis of Ogbomoso Consultative Council (OCC) and other groups and interests taken off temporarily at Iresaapa in Surulere local government area at the site of National Youth Development Centre in Idi-Ayin with the assumption of office of administrative officers and recruitment of first batch of staff including teaching staff.
Though still plagued by shortage of office accommodations and classrooms, the management, it is learnt, is making strenuous effort to secure more buildings to host departments and convert to lecture rooms.
The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Skill Acquisition Centre, Onipaanu, also a federal government-owned facility, is a place being looked at.
The effort of the management to secure the use of a new school complex at Owode, Ogbomoso, was aborted when the Oyo state government ordered the Millennium Model Secondary School (which originally owns it) but then using facilities of Ogbomoso Grammar School, to move in, in July.
Nonetheless, everything is being done to ensure the pioneer students resume in earnest.
