Late Mr. Gbenga Owolabi, the US citizen kidnapped and subsequently murdered along with two others in Abaa, Ogbomoso, by their captors is to be committed to mother earth today in the US, where he was based before coming to invest in Nigeria.

A link announcing the burial event obtained by states, “Peace and blessings to you. This is the link for the service on Saturday as we give thanks to God Almighty for giving us the privilege to have Olugbenga Owolabi with us, and honor His word by returning his earthly vessel back to dust.”

It further states quoting an anonymous writer, “…Let me accept and own this weak moment(s) without disregarding my current emotions in an effort to push through my grief to get to some proberbial next step.”

This news was also confirmed to by a family source (names withheld) Saturday evening, with our source saying, “Is today not Saturday? Yes, the programme should be ongoing.”

Recall Gbenga Owolabi was kidnapped at his hotel, Tana Suite, in Abaa, along Ilorin road, Ogbomoso, in August this year along with a female final year student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Rachael Opadele, working in the hostel.

Their abductors initially demanded a ransom of N100m but after much pleading from the family eventually agreed to N5m with the Nigerian authorities unable to do anything.

However, on the day the ransom was delivered the two victims and the okada operator, Idowu Ajagbe, who conveyed the ransom bearer were killed in cold blood by the kidnappers.

The ransom bearer reportedly escaped unhurt.

Being a US citizen pathologists from the US carried out autopsy on the body of Gbenga Owolabi recently then at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, but the reports are not made public.

This action fueled speculation that the US authorities are interested in the matter.

Meanwhile, no arrest has been made in connection with the dastardly act.
