Presently, uncertainty hovers over the Faculty of Agriculture, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, following the establishment of a campus of the institution (which will host the Faculty of Agriculture), at Iseyin in Oke-Ogun area of Oyo state.
Towards its realization, the announcement was made this week of the Provost of the new campus and the Dean of the faculty.
This new development however has sparked uncertainty over the status of the faculty at the main campus.
The belief previously was that the whole faculty with the academic and non-academic staff as well as the students, will be entirely moved out of the Ogbomoso campus to the Iseyin campus.
The faculty’s population will not be less than 10, 000 and transporting this number of people out was one of the reasons the move was staunchly opposed in view of the adverse effects it will have on the economy of Ogbomoso.
What shape it will take is now uncertain, owing to the announcement of a new Dean for the Iseyin campus when a substantive Dean is on ground in Ogbomoso.
ogbomosoinsightonline.com spoke with some academic staff at the Faculty of Agriculture in the Ogbomoso main campus and they all retorted they were not in the know of what shape the whole thing will take.
A senior lecturer who however spoke under conditions of anonymity said, “We dont know what will happen, we heard the announcement of the Dean for Iseyin campus but we don’t know what fate awaits the main faculty here. We are still watching.”
Meanwhile, a WhatsApp message sent to the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, was not responded to as at the time of filing this report.
