NUT PRO Ogbomoso North dies one week after his okada fell into ditch at Apake area

Comrade Babatunde Ogundare the Public Relations Officer (PRO) Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Ogbomoso North local government branch is dead, throwing colleagues in the teaching profession into mourning.

Comrade Ogundare who emerged PRO about three years ago was, according to the branch chairman of the union Comrade Tunde Oladapo, involved in a lone accident at Apake area, Ogbomoso, when the motorcycle he was riding fell into a ditch on the road, dislocating his arm in the process.

ogbomosoinsightonline.com notes that axis of the road (which links the northern part of the country) is badly damaged fraught with gullied portions.

Oladapo said the deceased was riding his personal motorcycle on that fateful Saturday (November 4, incidentally two days after the union held an award ceremony at Soun Stadium where he took active part, distributing drinks to guests), when he encountered the vagaries of the road making him to slip and he fell into the ditch.

He recovered quickly and got treatment at an undisclosed hospital, treated for among others dislocation of arm.

He was given appointment for check up the next Saturday, “unfortunately, he died in the evening of the day of check up while being attended to in the hospital. He was said to have suddenly coughed out and he surprisingly passed away,” Oladapo disclosed amid grief.

He described the deceased as a vibrant unionist “who was a nice and lovely person.”

Many of his colleagues described his death as sudden and unexpected while praying for the repose of his soul and that God will take care of the family he left behind.

His last NUT outing – during the teachers’ award ceremony

He was a teacher at the primary section of the Nigerian Baptist Training School for the Blind, Adeniran area.

He was buried Monday at the Ogbomoso Baptist Conference Cemetery, Aroje, Ilorin road, after a funeral service at the same venue, attended by many teachers.
