Court, prison disagree over mental state of man wearing charms at party


Wonder will never end; in Nigeria particularly, pathetic wonders and dramas will never cease to unfold.
One of the latest of these absurdities is the unfolding drama of the young man apprehended one and a half weeks ago at a funeral party at Methodist Basic School, Arowomole, Ogbomoso, heavily laced with charms of various kinds, this is aside a machete kept in his trousers.


ogbomosoinsightonline.com reported that the man was overpowered and arrested by men of the War Against Indiscipline and Corruption Brigade (WAIC Brigade), after alarm was raised about his sudden appearance at the venue of the party.
The man whose name could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report, was subsequently taken into custody by men of the Nigerian Police Force, Sunsun Divisional headquarters.
The suspect had remained in custody until yesterday when the police took him to the Magistrate Court 1 in Ogbomoso South local government, on one count charge of attempt to commit felony.
After examining the matter, the judge ruled that he be remanded at Lagbondoko Correctional Centre, Oyo, pending further investigations.
He was promptly driven to Lagbondoko, Oyo, however drama ensued at Oyo as the officials at the correctional centre refused to take him in on the ground that he was a “madman.”
The policemen were shocked and taken aback by the submission of the prison officials but their hands were tied and they had to return the suspect to their station.
A source told ogbomosoinsightonline.com at the station that the suspect would be taken back to the magistrate court for the judge to decide on the case again.
