The Federation of Ogbomoso Students Union, FOGSU, has distributed exercise books to primary school pupils and students of secondary schools across Ogbomoso zone.
The programme, under FOGSU’s Free Education Scheme, was sponsored by Hon. Akinwole Akinwale, popularly known as Wolekanle.
National president of FOGSU, Comrade Gbadegesin Ayobami explaining during the flag-off ceremony held at Ogunlola Hall, Oja’gbo, Ogbomoso, said the project was to encourage the discouraged.
Continuing, he stated, “The rationale for this programme is to contribute towards the free education programme of government, and we express our appreciation to the sponsor, Hon Akinwole Akinwale, a.k.a. Wolekanle, the Chief Executive Officer of AA Luxury Suites, Aroje, Ogbomoso and who is CEO, Black Edge Consultancy.”
Comrade Ayobami further explained that students/pupils from selected schools would benefit from the free exercise books’ distribution in each of the local governments in Ogbomoso zone.
The selected schools included Baptist Basic School, Osupa (Ogbomoso North local government); Baptist Secondary Grammar School, Ahoyaya (Ogbomoso South local government); St. Agnes Basic School, Iluju (Oriire local government); Baptist Day School I, Ajaawa and Community Basic School, Orile-Osupa (Ogo-Oluwa local government); and Muslim Grammar School, Oko (Surulere local government).
Ayobami added, “Though it is few, we hope to distribute the exercise books hoping other philanthropists will assist us in the future to accomplish more in order to encourage the academically discouraged students.”
