24th anniversary: UK-based pastor storms Onpetu palace for 3- day revival
The palace of Onpetu of Ijeru kingdom, Ogbomoso South local government will between Thursday, June 1 and Saturday, June 3, play host to Apostle Alfred Williams of the Christ Faith Tabernacle, whose headquarters is in London, United Kingdom.
The three-day revival which has as theme, “Unquenchable fire” with text from Mark 9:43, is to commemorate the 24th installation anniversary of HRM Oba Sunday Oladapo Oyediran, as Onpetu of Ijeru.
Oba Oyediran was installed on June 1, 1999 and his reign has become synonymous with spiritual enhancement programmes like crusades, revivals, retreats, prayer of deliverance and so on. Rituals and other traditional engagements that have to do with sacrifices he has given a wide berth.
In a press conference held Thursday morning at the palace to herald the event Oba Oyediran explaining how he struck partnership with Apostle Williams informed their paths first crossed in the UK when he was on vacation and someone recommended he attended Apostle Williams’ church.
“I was thinking of a church to worship when l went for a vacation in UK and someone mentioned Christ Faith Tabernacle.
“So, l attended the church anonymously. However, after being told of my identity Apostle Williams asked l sit by his side on the pulpit and properly introduced me.
“After the service he told me God laid it upon his heart to hold a crusade in my palace.
“That’s what led to this revival. I used to stage it in two days but out of deference to his wish we are spending three days.”
Onpetu further informed that Apostle Williams bore the cost of coming down to Nigeria up to Ilorin where he was picked up.
Corroborating the monarch the Aworia-born revivalist stressed the revival “will bring about restoration of lost glory, pulling down of evil altars and evil forces in Ijeruland and its environs.
Disclosing he had held several crusades in Sango Ota, Awori land and several other places in Ogun state where he said occultic practices are deeply entrenched he prayed God would move in the Ijeru crusade “for the people to witness testimonies.”
