Soun mourns Aare Musulumi of Ogbomosoland, says, ‘It’s shocking and painful’

The Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Aare Musulumi of Ogbomosoland, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Atanda Owodunni, describing his passing as a huge loss to the traditional institution, the Muslim community and the entire Ogbomosoland.

 

In a condolence message issued by the monarch, Oba Olaoye said the news of Alhaji Owodunni’s death came as a shock, noting that his demise had left a significant vacuum in the community.

 

The monarch described the late Aare Musulumi as a respected community leader, devoted Muslim, philanthropist and a committed son of Ogbomosoland whose contributions to the development of the land remain indelible.

 

He noted that during his lifetime, Alhaji Owodunni demonstrated strong commitment to the growth of Islam, while also working for unity, peace and spiritual development within the Muslim community.

According to the statement, the late Islamic leader dedicated his life to service, community development and the upliftment of the less privileged, earning him respect across religious and social divides.

 

The Soun stated that the philanthropic activities of the deceased impacted many lives, adding that his generosity and compassion would continue to be remembered by those who benefited from his goodwill.

 

Oba Olaoye said the late Aare Musulumi’s vision and contributions to Islam in Ogbomosoland would remain a lasting legacy, while praying that his efforts would continue to inspire future generations.

 

The monarch also extended condolences to the family of the deceased, the Muslim Ummah, friends and associates, as well as all those affected by the loss.

He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus, and give his family the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

 

The statement concluded that Ogbomosoland had indeed lost one of its finest sons.
