The civil war hero according to a family source died about 1am today, Friday, January 16, aged 87.

It is said he died in his hometown, Ogbomoso Oyo state, at Bowen University Teaching Hospital BUTH.

Col. Adeniran was an iconic personality who achieved fame in the Nigeria’s Civil War between 1967 and 1970. He contributed immensely to the advancement of education in Ogbomosoland by founding the first private primary and secondary schools – Ayoka Primary School and Adeniran Memorial Grammar School (AMGS) respectively. The Oyo state government later took over the secondary school. Aside this, he built blocks of classrooms at both Ogbomoso Grammar School and Ogbomoso High School, which are still functional today and started a modern farm in Ogbomoso. He was recently celebrated by the staff and students of AMGS on the anniversary of the school on October 16.
