AbdulGaniy Olayinka Raji, an Ogbomoso-born Professor of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering, University of Ibadan, is dead.
According to a family statement he passed away Friday afternoon at his residence in Ogbomoso, Oyo state.

He will be committed to mother earth today Saturday after a prayer at the Ogbomoso Central Mosque, Oja’agbo at 11am.
Late Professor Raji from Fedegbo compound Isale-Afon served Nigeria meritoriously in various capacities. He was a delegate to a National Delegates Conference (CONFAB) during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014, as a representative of Oyo state. Until recently he was Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) serving at Ekiti and Ogun states.

He worked for years at the Premier University the University of Ibadan,. Ibadan, in the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering where he served as Head of Department.

Professor Raji was at different times Director Management Information System and Chairman Information and Communication Technology at the university.
According to information he died in his sleep during a nap before Jummah prayer. He was said to have driven by himself to Ogbomoso from Ibadan earlier that morning.

“He drove from Ibadan to ogbomoso This morning and told the people around him that he wants to rest before jummah prayer,when it’s time for jummah prayer,still sleeping the boy around thought he was resting unknowing that Allah has taken his servant back to him,” a post by Alhaji Jimoh Olaosebikan revealed.

He was an alumnus of Adeniran Memorial Grammar School Ogbomoso. He passed out in 1984 as a member of the second set.
