Adeniran Memorial Grammar School (AMGS), Ogbomoso, Oyo state, clocked 47 years October 16, having been founded on October 16, 1978, by Col. Adegboyega Adeniran (rtd). The school started as a private establishment but government later took it over to become a public school. But that never exterminated the origin as the Col. Adeniran family never divested from the school. Thus, the new age of the school marked yet another celebration of “an enduring legacy.”

The staff and students celebrated the milestone yesterday with pomp and pageantry. They were at the founder’s residence within the school premises to celebrate him. That has become an annual ritual – it’s always good to create an enduring legacy.

The alumni are not left out, eloquent words of appreciation were sent, heaping encomiums on the founder, and congratulating staff, current and old students. More importantly, they charged the alumni to rally to rebuild the school towards regaining its old glory as one of the best around. Recall the school attained best WAEC results throughout Oyo state in 1988. It was a choice school in its early decades. Distinguished Alumni, Esteemed Board of Trustees,

Beloved National Executive Members And Executive Committee of Various Graduating Sets, Ladies and Gentlemen.

I give glory and honour to God Almighty for His mercies, love and care over everyone of us and our Alma mater. Today is a remarkable day as our own very dear school clocked 47 years. 47 years of academic excellence which has contributed in no small measures to national growth.

AMGS has produced notable alumni in diverse fields who have made significant impact in our society. This is a testimony to the fact that we are the “Nation’s Hope” indeed. May God Almighty continue to bless and elevate our Alma mater among others.

This anniversary message will not be complete if the founder of the school who laid the foundation of our successes through God is not mentioned. With all the humility and heart full of gratitude, I say a big thank you to *Pa. Rtd. Col. Adegboyega Adeniran* for his initiative and passion. May he live longer to enjoy his labour over us. We hereby emphatically acknowledge and appreciate Pa. Adeniran’s numerous contributions to the national development.

At this point, I must also appreciate various graduating sets, individuals, groups, families and even donors who are not members of our Alumni body who have donated and stood by our Alma mater, I say may you all be replenished and blessed richly in everything you lay your hands on. Every act of your generosity demonstrates the commitment to giving back to our Alma mater .Thank you.

As we celebrate 47 years of our Alma mater, let us reflect on our achievements and challenges. There is a great need to renew our minds to support our institution’s growth as the government can do but little. We need to partner with the school in all fronts in providing much needed infrastructures as well as resources.

In conclusion, I would like to remind the esteemed and respected members of our association that this message will be my final as the National President of Alumni Body of AMGS, as we came in October 2021. In the light of this, on behalf of my team I wish to appreciate the entire old students of AMGS for the support since the journey started. As we prepare to elect a new set of Executive Members, may the good Lord guide us and grant our heart requests. One of such requests is that our national body needs our support from members and a leader to lead in the right direction to add values to our body and AMGS.

Once again may God answer our prayers.

Let me also express my sincere appreciation to *Mr Samson Adediti Alabi*, the outgoing National Secretary for the roles he played, he is well vast in knowledge and ever ready to do what is needful at the right time. He has never been tired in the course of uplifting our our Alma mater. He deserves a meritorious award. I appreciate you as well as others too numerous to mention.

To the general house once more, I cannot thank you enough for the opportunity given to me and my team to serve in this capacity.

Students celebrating the milestone

AMGS: Celebrating a beautiful, enduring legacy of Col. Adegboyega Adeniran (rtd) – Engr. Olaoye Oke

Yesterday, October 16, 2026, marked the 47th anniversary of my Alma Mater Adeniran Memorial Grammar School (AMGS), Ogbomoso, Oyo State. Commendably, the current principal of the schoolled her vice principals, teachers and students to rejoice with the great man who founded the school Col. Adegboyega Adeniran (rtd). The Papa was enthusiastically celebrated at his residence within the school premises. This was really appreciated by Baba Col. Adeniran and his family as they radiated joy and satisfaction. The war veteran deserves all accolades no doubt. While his contemporaries devoted themselves to frivolities, things that would not outlive them, he committed to founding a citadel of learning to mould lives and create a stream of future leaders adequately nurtured on the platter of education.

Col. Adeniran reflects selflessness, passion and vision. He is a visionary and a builder of destinies. His life shows that creating legacies are better than primitive accumulation of wealth without impact. He prioritises community development and service over personal benefits. That is true greatness. That pays, it immortalizes one. Adeniran is a name that will endure till eternity, if he had utilised the money he diverted to establishing the school to catching fun at the time or stashed it in banks he won’t be celebrated today, there wouldn’t have been many things to celebrate him for. His life is a great lesson in community service and accomplishment. He should be emulated.

The school he founded is a crucible that has forged many great lives and professionals who are contributing immensely to the growth and development of their communities, country and world as a whole. Many still would be moulded certainly. If he didn’t conceive and unleash the vision, life’s trajectory of many of us would have taken another turn. Who knows what it would have been? That can only be left in conjecture!

I celebrate the school on its 47th anniversary, l rejoice with all alumni and present students, l hail past heads and teachers, and the present staff. I am happy to be part of the legacy.

Meanwhile, I charge us old students to do more in the school. We need to be more committed, the school needs touches of modernity, it looks rustic, let’s give it renewal. We can do it. Let’s emulate our colleagues elsewhere.

Some infrastructures needed in the school some, requiring urgent renewal, include fencing, befitting entrance gate with gate house, laboratory, classrooms (renovation and new ones), new admin block or renovation of principal’s office, staff rooms’ upgrade, ICT/CBE Centre (even mini), well paved access road etc
