Teacher dies in Ogbomoso 2 wks after involvement in multiple okada accident, for burial tomorrow

A teacher in Ogbomoso, Mr. David Oyebamiji, died Tuesday, after failing to recover from an accident involving four motorcycles at Kere area, two weeks ago.
Mr. Oyebamiji until his passing was an English teacher at Oolo Community High School, along Oyo road, Ogbomoso.
According to information, he sustained severe injuries in the head and some other parts of the body in the accident. He was said to have “received intensive treatment at Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, with further treatment at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, but he couldn’t make it,” a neighbour said.
Information gathered by ogbomosoinsightonline.com revealed the deceased left his residence at Kere area on the fateful day at about 7pm to purchase livestock feed. “He was already returning home when he was caught up in the accident involving three other motorcycles,” the source said.

The cause of the accident, it was stated, was a motorcycle operated by a young boy that was without full light. “The boy rode a motorcycle that had no full light. As a result he had a head-on collision with two other motorcycles. That was the period Mr. Oyebamiji was passing and he got hit in the process, which made him fall and hit his head against a hard surface.”
His death was one of those twists of fate, it was posited. “He gave someone a ‘lift’, he helped the person further ahead when he should have branched off to his house, it was during that further trip that the accident occurred. Had he branched off to his residence, he would not have been caught up in the accident.”

The boy that caused the accident was said to have died a few hours later in the hospital.
Mr. Oyebamiji was a graduate of Linguistics from the University of Ilorin; he was employed into the teaching profession in 2005 and was the immediate past endwell coordinator in Oriire local government.

He’s survived by wife and children.
His burial is slated for tomorrow, Thursday, November 28.
